UAE visa overstay fine — how much it is and how it adds up
The UAE charges a flat AED 50 for each day of overstay, the same in every emirate. The part people get wrong is when the clock starts: it runs from the day after your permit’s grace period ends, not the day the visa expires.
AED 50 per day, per person, per ICP (checked October 2026). Older pages — including some GDRFA Dubai FAQs — still show legacy figures such as AED 100/day or a higher first-day charge. The federal rate is AED 50; confirm your own total on icp.gov.ae before paying.

Frequently asked questions
How much is the UAE overstay fine per day?
AED 50 per person per day, applied uniformly across all seven emirates. If a page quotes AED 100 a day or a larger charge for the first day, it is describing the older structure that the federal rate replaced.
When does the fine start counting?
From the day after the grace period attached to your entry permit or residence ends — not from the expiry date itself. Grace periods differ by permit type, so check what applies to your own file on ICP smart services.
Is the daily fine the only thing I pay?
Not always. An exit permit charge and a service or processing fee can be added on top depending on your case and how you settle it. The amount shown on the official payment screen is the one that counts.
Does the fine keep growing while I arrange to pay?
Yes. It accrues for every day the violation is open, so the figure you see today is not the figure you will pay next week. Settle or regularise your status as early as you can.
